Brockhouse is proud to announce that we recently joined the BEAS Decarbonisation Net Zero Programme. By joining this programme, we gained access to an energy audit, expert guidance, and a 50% grant towards implementing efficiency upgrades. The forging process is inherently an energy intensive process, and Brockhouse has made the commitment to work to become as energy efficient as possible, reducing the overall environmental impact of our forging.
As part of this programme, we have implemented a number of changes at Brockhouse to decrease our energy consumption. This includes the redesign of one of our largest forge furnaces to improve its insulation, and to reduce its gas consumption and warmup times. Additionally, Brockhouse now has an energy monitoring system in place, which closely tracks gas and energy use across our equipment, meaning we can monitor areas which are utilising more energy and work to make those specific pieces of equipment more energy efficient. Additional work has also been completed to prevent air leakage from our hammer units, further reducing our energy use.
By completing these changes, Brockhouse has been able to become a more energy efficient company, lowering our carbon footprint. Additionally, by saving money on our energy bills, we are able to reinvest this into further efficiency improvements, helping reach our decarbonisation targets.
